Huge news! I’m joining Acquia as Lead Evangelist, Digital Marketing & Vibe Coding. I’m beyond excited about this. The job entails evangelizing Drupal, Acquia, and AI tooling to folks outside of our community.
If you know me well enough, you know that I’ve been evangelizing Drupal since… forever. I’ve presented at so many Drupal and non-Drupal conferences.
I’ve written Drupal articles on CSS Tricks, Smashing Magazine, and I even dragged up this photo from a print article that I wrote for .NET Magazine waaay back in 2012!
This will be my first ever marketing role! I’ll be creating tons of short (social media) and long form tutorial videos talking about all the great work happening across Acquia and Drupal, especially around AI. I’ll also be doing lots of traveling (hopefully not quite as much as Martin), and speaking at various events.
So yeah, this is basically a dream job for me. I've basically been doing this job unofficially for years, and now I get to do it professionally! I’m especially excited about Acquia. If you’re not familiar with them, they’re we're the largest contributor to Drupal (by far), and are filled up with amazing and exceptionally intelligent people.
Whats up with Dripyard?
Dripyard is still happening! Andy and I started Dripyard a bit over a year ago, and we’re committed to continuing it. We still believe that it has a vital role to play in the Drupal CMS ecosystem, especially for smaller sites. If you haven’t seen it yet, Tojio recently created a brand new Drupal site in record time using one of our site templates. They’re ahead of the curve embracing Drupal for mid-tier websites, and there’s plenty more to come.
What’s up with your Drupal contributions?
If you haven’t seen yet, I’ve recently been made a provisional Drupal Core Frontend Framework Manager! This means that I can actually commit code to Drupal core, which puts me in a small group of 20ish other folks from around the world. Lately, I’ve been working on the new Admin theme (which will hopefully 🤞be stable and default by Drupal 12).
I thoroughly believe that people judge a book by its cover, and for Drupal’s editorial experience, that’s this new theme. It’s vitally important that it looks beautiful, polished, functions well, and is fast. I’m having lots of fun making sure that’s the case come this December, when Drupal 12 is released.
So what’s next?
I’ll be traveling to an Acquia product marketing onsite next month. I’m really excited to meet my coworkers in person. I’ll be at DrupalCon Rotterdam, attending the AI Summit, and presenting on Building for Drupal Canvas: Lessons Learned from Real-World Use (crap, I should probably get started on this!).
Beyond that, expect to see a lot more of me talking about Drupal, AI, Canvas, vibe coding, and everything else happening in this space. There’s a ridiculous amount of cool stuff happening right now, and I’m incredibly excited that I get to spend my time helping more people discover it.
Hey you! Leave a comment!1
Seriously... I really like it when people let me know their thoughts and that they've read this.
